Gaming Monitor Is G-Sync worth it

Is G-Sync Worth It?

Yes, G-Sync is worth the money. Assuming you are playing AAA games and your gaming PC often drops below your monitors refresh rate (60/120/144Hz), G-Sync will prevent screen tearing and micro stuttering providing a smooth and fluid gaming experiance. G-Sync works by syncronising the montitors refresh rate to the FPS the card outputs, virtually eliminating screen tear and micro stuttering. Additionally Nvidia G Sync monitors have a mode called ULMB that reduces motion blurr.

is g-sync worth it?
While it sits on the pricier end of the spectrum, the ASOS Republic of Gamers Swift PG348Q monitor has a screen that is incredibly massive. Its size, though, might not be enough to make the price worth it, but its features and quality might be just the thing.
This gaming keyboard is quite possibly our favorite among the more reasonably priced gaming keyboards out there. Though it has some expensive competitors with amazing features, the “bang for your buck” that you get with the HyperX Alloy Elite is more than worth it.

Every gamer wants the best setup, and there are plenty of upgrades and different types of gaming monitors to help you get there. With new games coming out every year with bigger and better graphics, it can be a challenge to keep up with playing all of them, let alone making sure your computer can play them. The game industry is excelling at an astronomical rate, developing new engines and programs that need the newest PC's to run. But keeping a computer up to date can now require constant upgrades, and if you don't have infinite money to spend, it usually comes down to the age-old question “is it really worth it?” In recent years G- sync has become a popular choice, so the question stands, is G-sync the best? To get to the bottom of this, we have to do some research first, what is G-sync? In an ideal world we would all be pushing over 144 FPS and driving our shiney new 144Hz gaming monitor without issues, but unfortunately with the latest AAA titles that's not a reality, enter G-Sync. G-sync allows your computer to have a faster refresh rate, so that the images being sent from your computer to your monitor come in at a consistent and usable rate, but there are other types of sync that do similar things, so what makes G-sync superior?

No Sync

One option for a computer is to have no sync at all, which can be a fairy fast process, sending images from pc to monitor, but this option has one fatal flaw. Having no sync can lead to tearing, which is a process that looks like your screen is trying to display and scroll through several images at once. Honestly there’s not many perks to have no sync, and it has generally become an outdated idea, but for some, it is preferable to a laggy game. The frame rate may not stutter like it would with a V-sync, but it is generally still considered the worst option. This makes objects look discontinuous, and if you’re trying to play a game, it may be giving you the images as fast as the computer will allow, but the format and the tearing make it nearly impossible to do anything. In total, this option has really fallen to the wayside, not many people suggest it, and even less use an actual no sync monitor.

The second alternative is something called V-sync, which entirely got rid of the tearing issue. This allowed for continues flows of images from pc to monitor, or at least in theory. The primary issue with this setup is the lag, which is caused by the monitor showing you a single frame twice, when your frame rate becomes lower than the monitors refresh rate. This leads to skippy gameplay, and is absolute torture when you're trying to beat a reaction based game.

There have been plenty of people on forums and blogs that have tried to find ways around these lag issues, and there are slight ways to improve the issue, by turning down the graphics on a game or changing other settings, but sacrificing game quality just to be able to play properly seems like it takes away from the original game anyways. It can be difficult as games get better and better, and without constantly upgrading your system, getting the newest games to run on full graphics can be impossible. Many find that V-sync systems are becoming less feasible for their setups if they want to play the newest most graphics heavy games.

It's not difficult to see when you look at the advertisements for G-sync that they really want consumers to know that it will solve all of their gaming problems, and after some research, it does seem like they’ve created a seriously worthy product. The monitor has none of the problems that V-sync and no sync have. There's no tearing, and the lagging of frames behind games is basically eliminated. The fluctuating fps that can occur is almost completely unnoticeable, and many people say that it is a huge improvement from their last monitor.

The best money can buy

Since lots of people have recently upgraded their monitor to G-sync, and people keep asking “is a G sync monitor worth it?” the internet is littered with comments, reviews, and really helpful feedback. Overall, most seem very pleased with the product, and one of the most popular sentiments is that you won't notice the difference right away, but after using it for a while, you won't know how you lived without it. The games we play are constantly evolving into faster, more beautiful, playable pieces of art, and now more than ever, a game can be an experience as well as a competition. Without a monitor that can display game graphics to their fullest, it can be difficult if not impossible to enjoy new games, but ultimately, it comes down to how you want to play. For casual gamers it might not be worth the buy, but for those who are looking for a good product with fast visual relaying and awesome graphics, it's very worth it!

In simpler terms, here are a few good things and bad things about this particular model.
